Skin Check-Up

The Skin Check-up is a non-invasive method used to evaluate the skin's physiological balance and healthiness. In fact, almost all women use cosmetic skincare products, but only a very small number use specific products suitable for their specific skin condition. Therefore, the Skin Check-Up is to allow for correcting the mistakes of the treatment used and for evaluating over time the effectiveness of the correct treatment to be followed. The skin's physiological balance is reflected in the condition of the hydrolipid film which covers it, by means of measuring the temperature, level of acidity, sebometry and skin hydration.

The procedure

The method involves a dual approach - clinical and instrumental. Firstly, an objective examination is carried out with an inspection by means of a magnifying lens, first with natural daylight and then with an ultraviolet lamp, and then an assessment, using instruments which make contact with the skin, of the parameters described above.

The temperature provides us with the condition of the capillary blood circulation; the PH indicates the skin acidity and its possible tendency towards being "greasy", the sebometry allows us to evaluate the quanity of  sebum on the surface of the epidermis, while the moisture in the stratum corneum provides us with the degree of skin hydration. Finally, there follows the test to evaluate  skin sensitivity.

It is essential that this type of analysis is carried out, as for blood analyses, on fasting patients. In this case fasting means that in the 12 hours prior to the examination the skin has not been treated with any kind of cosmetic product.

It is considered useful to carry out a study and evaluation of the health of the skin at all ages and it should be done at least once a year.

Advantages

A Skin Check-up allows us to maintain a healthy skin and to correct any possible changes to preserving its healthiness. All of this is simply a protection of the skin against external negative factors (reducing infections) and in preventing skin ageing.
